Moscow, Baku may invest in Iran-related projects

Azerbaijan continues to work on several energy and transport enterprises with Russia and Iran, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Friday.
BAKU (Sputnik) Russia and Azerbaijan are working onseveral energy and transport ventures, aswell asplan oninvesting inIran-related projects, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Friday.

On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov agreed withhis Iranian and Azerbaijani counterparts tolaunch work onthe transport corridor project alongthe western shore ofthe Caspian Sea.

"[Moscow and Baku] have also external projects. Specifically, forexample, Iranian direction is now quite promising. The presidents talked aboutthis, we have just discussed this topic. I think that this direction may be one ofthe most important forthe cooperation inthe Caspian," Medvedev said afterhis talks withPresident ofAzerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The Russian prime minister added that the cooperation betweenthe two countries would be conducted not only ongovernmental projects, butalso onbusiness ventures inthe fields ofenergy and transport.

The Friday talks resulted inthe resumption ofwork ofthe Russia-Azerbaijani Business Council, according toMedvedev.
