World’s 2nd trimaran built in Qeshm Island

QESHM, Apr. 06 (MNA) – Trimaran is a multi-hull boat that comprises a main hull and two smaller outrigger hulls (or "floats") which are attached to the main hull with lateral beams.

A group of domestic engineers and innovators designed, manufactured and test-sailed the multihull boat in Qeshm Island in Persian Gulf waters. Trimarans are most commonly sail-driven yachts designed for recreation or racing, but there are a few trimaran ferries and warships.

Esmail Delshad told Iran’s state news agency IRNA on Wednesday that the engine of the boat was also capable of carting competitions in water; “design and manufacturing of the boat was complete during 3 years of hectic work and a modest budget of $5,500; it would bear a drag of 400kg and is capable of reaching speeds of 33 nautical mile and has a power of 25 steam horses,” he detailed. “Islamic Republic of Iran is the second country to design and manufacture of the three-hall boat; it would provide services as patrolling, recreation, rescue, and sports activities; it also would save thousands of dollars paid for foreign versions of the boat.”

Delshad also told IRNA that the boat had a height of 0.5m from sea level; “it is stealth and radars would not detect it, and thus would be a good alternative for military operations where evading enemies’ radars is a crucial part; with a fiberglass and light body, it scarcely sinks when hit by enemies,” he added.

Delshad, who is a war veteran and disabled, said that the boat hopefully would serve part of country’s needs in recreation and other applications; “workshops to manufacturing the boat would create jobs in a situation where the country’s hard-hit economy hails any plan to create jobs,” he added.
