Tehran, April 7, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani has described the Iranian diplomats’ success in their nuclear talks with the world major powers as the most significant day for diplomacy in the past 100 years.
The President made the remarks on Thursday during a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the National Nuclear Technology Day (April 8).
‘This is a year when the world and international organizations have recognized the right of the Iranian nation for the nuclear technology,’ said the President.
After the remarkable nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers in July 2015, and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which was signed afterward by the two sides, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has verified that Iran was respecting its nuclear commitments. The anti-Iran sanctions in the field of its nuclear activities were then lifted on January 16, 2016 following the IAEA verification.
‘Today, we are commemorating memories of those who sacrificed their lives to for the dignity of the country,’ said President Rouhani stressing that this year Iranians are celebrating the National Nuclear Technology Day while the entire world has finally ‘admitted’ the peaceful nature of the country’s nuclear activities and started to cooperate with it in the field of nuclear technology.
We have proved the world in the past year that ‘soft power’ can be more effective than hard power, the President stressed.
