Ilham Aliyev, the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan said that trilateral meetings of the Azerbaijani, Russian and Iranian officials at the level of heads of state and foreign ministers undoubtedly, have an utmost importance.
BAKU (Sputnik) Trilateral meetings ofthe Azerbaijani, Russian and Iranian officials atthe level ofheads ofstate and foreign ministers indicate that multilateral cooperation would be further developed inthe future, the president ofthe Republic ofAzerbaijan said Thursday.
"These meetings, undoubtedly, have an utmost importance. Its a new page inthe history ofrelations inthe region. I remember my recent visit toIran and discussions withmy Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani, and recently we have had a telephone conversation. All this suggests that there are prospects forcooperation betweenour countries," Ilham Aliyev said ina statement.
Earlier inthe day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met his Iranian and Azerbaijani counterparts, Mohammad Javad Zarif and Elmar Mammadyarov, respectively.
