Iran enjoys full security in borders with Azerbaijan

Ardebil, April 6, IRNA - Commander of Border Guards Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei announced that Iran enjoys full security in the areas which it has joint borders with the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia.


Rezaei made the remarks on Tuesday evening during his visit to Iran-Azerbaijan border areas in this northwestern province.

During conflicts between Baku and Yerevan in the past few days, several mortar shells from Armenia were 'unintentionally' fallen in Iran's zero border point, said the officiall adding that Iran has admonished the Armenian border guard not to repeat such actions.

All people living near border lines are doing their normal routine, said the commander stressing the region is completely safe due to security efforts made by border forces in Iran's Ardebil and East Azarbaijan provinces.

On Tuesday, Rezaei held a meeting with Deputy Chief of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan Major General Ilham Mehdiyev and reviewed joint border issues between the two countries.
