Iran slams West for supporting Saudi war crimes in Yemen

Tehran, April 4, The Iran Project A senior Iranian official has slammed the west for supporting Saudi Arabias war crimes in Yemen, calling it a big scandal for the western countries.

Speaking to a reporter on Monday, Seyed Bagher Hosseini, a member of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the IranianParliament condemned the United States and Britain for supporting Saudi Arabias deadly campaign against Yemen, saying that their support is a different scandal that has led to serious criticisms.

In retaliation for its failures in Syria and Iraq, and in response to the Yemeni revolution, Saudi Arabia's regime started its deadly military campaign against the Arab impoverished country and has killed thousands of civilians, women and children using advanced Western weapons.

Following the recent events in Yemen, Sarah Lee Whitson, the Middle East director at Human Rights Watch, also criticized the United States and Britainfor providing arms and munitions to Riyadh.

Hosseini went on to say thatSaudis measures, as Western human rights organizations have protested against it, areinconceivable.

Yemen has been under military attacks by Saudi Arabia since late March last year. At least 8,400 people, among them 2,236 children, have been killed so far and 16,015 others have sustained injuries.

The war on Yemen started in a bid to bring the fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh, back to power and undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement.
