UN Chief: Only UNSC can decide about Iran's missile tests

New York, March 30, IRNA UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon underlined that the only international body which can deal with Iran's missile tests in the UNSC.

'It is right that Iran has tested long-range missiles and it is right that the tests have caused some concerns, but whether sanction should be imposed or some measures should be taken in this regard depends on the members of the UNSC,' Ban told reporters on Wednesday.

The UN secretary general declined to give direct comments on Iran's missile tests, and merely sufficed with the western media coverage of the missile tests.

The United Nations and most of the UN Security Council members have previously confirmed that Iran's missile tests do not violate the contents of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and Resolution 2231 of the UN Security Council.

Iran has announced on different occasions that its tested missiles are not capable of carrying nuclear warheads as the US and some western countries have claimed.
