Pres. Rouhani offers condolences after Lahore blast

TEHRAN, Mar. 28 (MNA) – Iran’s president Rouhani issued a formal message of condolences addressing Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif after the terrorist attack of late Sunday.  

The formal website of Iran’s presidential office released the text of a message in which Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered condolences to the officials and people of Pakistan for the suicide attack of a Taliban member which killed more than 70 innocent women and children late on Sunday.

The attack targeted people in a park in Pakistani city of Lahore where many families had gathered to celebrate the Easter Sunday.

In the message, Mr. Rouhani voices deep sorrow that many “Pakistani brothers and sisters, and especially children” were killed.

The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns any act of terror and maintains that violent murder of innocent people is done by those whose lives depend on creation of instability and insecurity, and spread of hatred and extremism, reads part of the message of Mr. Rouhani.

Offering condolences to the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the bereaved families, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in his message, wishes the swift recovery of the wounded.
