Ground properly paved for Iran's foreign investment: Zarif

Sydney, March 16, IRNA - Visiting Iranian Foreign Minster Mohammad Javad Zarif said here on Wednesday that removal of sanctions has paved the way for foreign investment in Iran.


Zarif made the remarks in a meeting attended by several Australian elite in Sydney.

Touching upon Iran's geographical situation, natural resources and its educated youths, he added the Islamic Republic has managed to overcome difficult conditions thanks to its huge capacities and resources.

'The two countries could expand mutual cooperation in agricultural and oil fields,' he added.

Given Iran's political and economical situation, Zarif reiterated that the country enjoys huge trade opportunities.

Pointing out that certain countries were supporting Daesh terrorist group, he added Islam is a peaceful religion, while extremism is done in the name of Islam.

Regarding the future of Syria, he added all domestic groups should sit around one negotiating table, stressing that any negotiations could be of no fruitful results in absence of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Referring to Iran-Australia economic cooperation, Zarif said the two sides should take their time to use the proper economic opportunities.

Zarif arrived in Canberra, Australia, on Monday at the last leg of his regional tour to Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
