Dy foreign minister: Resolving Syrian crisis requires national unity

Tehran, March 9, IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Wednesday that resolving Syrian crisis requires maintaining the country's territorial integrity, independence and national unity.


Amir-Abdollahian said in a telephone conversation with Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria, Staffan de Mistura.

Amir-Abdollahian underlined that in fight with terrorist groups all should adopt a realistic approach and help prevent measures bolstering the terrorist groups.

During the telephone conversation, the two sides exchanged views on the latest developments and the current status of talks between Syrian opposition groups with Syrian government in Geneva.

Referring to constructive and effective role of the Islamic Republic of Iran to help resolve the Syrian crisis through political means, the UN envoy briefed Amir-Abdollahian on his efforts for the new round of negotiations in Geneva which is to be begin soon.

UN is very serious to help resolve the Syrian crisis, he said and expressed the hope that the talke will help reach a settlement.
