FM spokesman: Iran nuclear program not a threat to other countries

Tehran, Feb 29, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari said on Monday that Iran’s nuclear program solely aims to serve lawful purposes and poses no a threat to any regional countries.

Jaberi Ansari made the remarks in his weekly press briefing in response to recent anti-Iran comments by Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil al-Arabi.
Such comments will not serve the interests of Arab countries and the Arab League, the Iranian spokesman said.

Jaberi Ansari advised the Arab governments to focus on boosting their national power instead of attributing their domestic problems to other governments.
He said that efforts to fuel Iranophibia and accusing others will not benefit the Arab governments.

Referring to remarks by the late prominent Egyptian journalist Mohamed Hassanein Heikal on Iran-Arabs relations, he said that Heikal repeatedly said he could not understand the reason for hostilities between Arab governments and Iran and they should opt for policy of compromise with Iran.
