German Iranologist: I am indebted to Iranian people and culture
Tehran, Feb. 28, IRNA German Iranologist Ulrich Marzolph in a ceremony held here to honor him for his services to the Iranian culture, said that he is indebted to the Iranian culture and people.


The goal of the ceremony held by the House of Books Institute was to express gratitude to the German Iranologist for his 35 years of continuous efforts to introduce the Iranian culture to the world.
Born in Landau, Germany, in 1953, Marzolph is currently professor of Islamic Studies in Germany and travels frequently to Iran.
Addressing the audience, the Managing Director of the House Majid Gholami said that Marolph has devoted his life to exalt Iran and Iranian men of literature, and that he has made good things happen to the Iranian culture throughout the world.
He praised Marzolph for his modesty and humility and for his gratitude to his teachers. However, he added, his greatest trait is that he loves Iran and that he has done his best to keep hoisting the Iranian flag.
Being a great Iranologist, Marzolph has many valuable books in varied fields published in Iran and abroad including Shahnameh Album and Iranian Folk Tales.
The German Iranologist from University of Gottingen in Germany has conducted research for 20 years on Persian folk tales. He studied Orientology at the University of Cologne, and Persian language at the University of Mashhad under the supervision of professors Gholamhossein Yousefi and Seyyed Jalaleddin Ashtiani.
At the end of the ceremony a plaque of gratitude was granted to professor Marzolph and the book Bist-Maghaleh or 20-Articles of Professor Marzolph, translated and collected by Ahmadinia, was unveiled.
