North Azadegan oil field ready for production

 

TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (Shana) The administrator for development of North Azadegan Oil Field Karamat Behbahani said the field which Iran shares with neighboring Iraq is ready for inauguration with an output of 75,000 barrels a day.

The test production from the field was carried out earlier, he told Shana stressing that the Ministry of Petroleum has given the priority to exploitation of the joint fields.

Irans Ministry of Petroleum has been focusing on production from Yadavaran, North Azadegan, South Azadegan, North Yaran and South Yaran oil fields, all of which Iran shares with Iraq.

Earlier, Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said Iran plans to increase production from Azadegan Field (North and South) to about 250,000 b/d by September 2016.

North Azadegan with holds an estimated in-place oil of 5.6 billion barrels which is planned to be developed in two phases each with an output capacity of 75,000 barrels a day based on a total investment of 2.55 billion dollars.
