UK resumes visa service in Iran

TEHRAN, Feb. 24 (MNA) British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond in a tweet on Tue. announced the resumption of issuing visas for Iranian nationals at its embassy in Tehran.


The British Embassy in Tehran and UK Visas & Immigration today resumed visa service in Iran, as promised 6 months after reopening Embassy, UK's Foreign SecretaryPhilip Hammondposted onTwitterTuesday.

The Iranian Embassy inLondon and the UK diplomatic mission inTehran had agreed toresume issuing visas beginning March, following a meeting betweenUK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Iran and the UK reopened embassies inAugust 2015, after the thaw inthe relationship betweenthe two countries came afterIran and the 5+1 group of countriesreached an agreement on Tehrans nuclear program inJuly.

Irans historicnuclear agreementwasimplementedat a ceremony in Vienna on 16 January 2016.
