TEHRAN (Tasnim) � Mayor of Tehran Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Mayor of Italy�s Milan Giuliano Pisapia signed a cooperation agreement in the Iranian capital on Monday.





The agreement was signed in a ceremony at Tehran�s Milad Tower.

Hailing the opportunity to strengthen relations between municipalities of the two cities, Tehran�s mayor said the agreement will help compensate for the past, when the �cruel US-imposed sanctions� had diminished ties between Iran and Italy.

Qalibaf also referred to Milan as a �great, historic, industrial and influential city�, and said he would make a trip to the Italian city in the near future at the invitation of Pisapia.

The mayor of Milan, for his part, described the agreement as a milestone in cooperation between Tehran and his city.

He also proposed holding a week in Milan concurrent with a triennial architecture fair in late April to let people know about the rich culture of Iran and its capital city.
