President calls for enhanced ties with Turkey

Tehran, Feb 16, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that closer relations with the neighboring states, especially Turkey is a key part of Iran's foreign policy.

He made the remarks in a meeting with newly appointed Iranian Envoy to Ankara Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian.

Rouhani called for boosting ties with Turkey in all fields including economy, culture and tourism.

President Rouhani said that Iran is willing to develop multi-lateral economic cooperation with Turkey and that the two governments need regular consultations to help resolve the regional conflicts and protect the regional stability and security.

President underlined that Iran would encourage the belligerent parties in the region to go ahead with diplomatic negotiations to help restore peace and security.
The newly appointed ambassador to Turkey is Iran's former ambassador to Islamabad. Iran's Former Ambassador to Turkey Ali Reza Bikdeli ended his mission yesterday.
