Tehran, Feb 10, IRNA � Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Wednesday extended his condolences to Syrian President Bashar Assad on the demise of his mother.

In his message, Larijani said that the role of Aneesa Makhlouf in helping former Syrian President Hafez Assad in resistance against aggressive policies of the Zionist regime and fighting the Takfiri groups is 'undeniable and unforgettable'.

The Majlis speaker prayed for the late mother of President Assad to rest in peace and wished patience for the bereaved family of Assad.

Aneesa Makhlouf, the widow of late President Hafez Assad and the mother of President Bashar Assad, passed away in Damascus on Sunday at the age of 86.
