Teaching JCPOA

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the official name of the nuclear deal Iran signed with the six world powers, will be part of the curriculum in Iranian schools as a complementary course in second-grade high school history textbooks if approved, announced Masoud Saqafi, spokesperson for the Tehran Province Education Department affiliated to the Education Ministry.

The proposal for the four-hour course on the events leading up to, and the results of, the agreement that was signed last July has been presented to the Schools Planning Council and will be part of the national curriculum when approved, he said, Khabaronline reported.

JCPOA is an international agreement reached in Vienna on July 14, 2015 between Iran and world six major powers. It is important that students learn about important events in modern history such as the nuclear deal, Saqafi noted. The historic deal put an end to the international economic sanctions on Tehran in exchange for curbs on its disputed nuclear program.
