Foreign companies keen on leasing planes to Iran

Tehran, Feb 2, IRNA - Chairman of Iran Civil Aviation Organization Ali Abedzadeh said foreign companies are keen on leasing their planes to Iran.

Talking to IRNA, Abedzadeh said the presence of companies affiliated to Center for Asia-Pacific Aviation (CAPA) in Iran Aviation Summit 2016 dubbed 'Iran 2016', indicates their willingness to lease planes to Iran.

'The companies that attended the Iranian summit last week own more that 4,000 planes,' he said.

'Iran 2016' opened in Tehran in the presence of several representatives from 35 countries on Jan 24.

Over 160 representatives from 85 companies in the fields of manufacturing airplanes, planes spare parts, and navigation equipment attended the two-day gathering.

The event was the first major international aviation summit to be held in Iran in almost 40 years and was provided with the full backing of Iran's aviation authorities and industry leaders.

As a result of the signing of the historic Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in Jul-2015, Irans civil aviation sector, and its tourism industry, is set for significant modernization and expansion following the lifting of sanctions on 16 Jan 2016.

The Iran Aviation Summit brought together Iran's key government and industry leaders with international experts and the chiefs of aviation operators and suppliers from around the world to discuss the direction of the industry in a post-sanction environment.
