40 Persian language groups working in India’s universities: Official
Tehran, January 31, The Iran Project - Iranian cultural attaché in New Delhi has said that more than 40 Persian language groups are working in different colleges and universities of India.

At the opening ceremony of a new period of Persian language learning, Iranian cultural attaché in New Delhi, Ali Dehgahi referred to the long-standing relations between Iran and India, saying that Persian language is one of the factors strengthening the cultural and spiritual relations between the two countries since it has been the official language of India for more than eight hundred years.

Emphasizing that Persian language is part of the identity and culture of the Indian people, Dehgahi stated that many of the history books were written in Persian so Indian researchers cannot have access to them without learning the language.

He went on to say that Persian language is not a foreign language for the people of India and is part of the country’s history and culture.
Learning a new language, students get familiar with a nation’s culture, adding that Iranian culture enriched with knowledge, thought and pure ideas can attract its addressees, he added.
