Elections guarantee system's long-life, religious democracy

Tehran, Jan 29, IRNA Provisional Friday Prayers Imam of Tehran Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi said in his 1st sermon elections not only guarantee system's long life, but also safeguard it religious democracy aspect.

'Participation in the elections is both a right and an opportunity to create a national epic and block the path for the penetration of the enemy,' he added.

In another part of his sermon the hojjatoleslam said that Iran's victory in the nuclear negotiations and the signing of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) were the result of the people's resistance under the leadership of the Supreme Leader.

'The unjustly imposed pressures of the enemy did not dishearten the Iranian nation, but helped our people to see the harsh faade of their enemy,' he added.

Seddiqi said that the people's demand after the JCPOA is curing the economic recession and unemployment problems, adding that it is not advisable to import the Western consumer goods and further deepen the gap among the rich and the poor social classes.

He meanwhile stressed the need to fight against poverty in the Iranian society needs to be intensified and the gap among different social classes need to eliminated and that hunger of some citizens and over-eating of certain others, to an extent that they will have trouble for walking are intolerable.
