Mohammad Nahavandian, the chief of staff to the Iranian president said that Iran is willing to be a full partner in the WTO that would provide even better environment for international collaboration and cooperation.

DAVOS (Sputnik) � Tehran would like�to become a member of�the World Trade Organization (WTO) to�create all the conditions needed for�a mutually-beneficial international cooperation, the chief of�staff to�the Iranian president said Wednesday.
"Iran has already been an observer in�the WTO. Iran is willing to�be a full partner in�the WTO that would provide even better environment for�international collaboration and cooperation," Mohammad Nahavandian said at�the World Economic Forum in�the Swiss town of�Davos.


Tehran first submitted its membership application to�the WTO in�1996, but�the US objections prevented it from�joining the global trade organization.

It is believed that the historic nuclear deal between�six world powers and Iran signed in�July 2015 opened a window of�opportunity for�Iran to�be accepted to�the WTO.
