Mohammad Nahavandian, the chief of staff to the Iranian president said that Iran is willing to be a full partner in the WTO that would provide even better environment for international collaboration and cooperation.
DAVOS (Sputnik) Tehran would liketo become a member ofthe World Trade Organization (WTO) tocreate all the conditions needed fora mutually-beneficial international cooperation, the chief ofstaff tothe Iranian president said Wednesday.
"Iran has already been an observer inthe WTO. Iran is willing tobe a full partner inthe WTO that would provide even better environment forinternational collaboration and cooperation," Mohammad Nahavandian said atthe World Economic Forum inthe Swiss town ofDavos.
Tehran first submitted its membership application tothe WTO in1996, butthe US objections prevented it fromjoining the global trade organization.
It is believed that the historic nuclear deal betweensix world powers and Iran signed inJuly 2015 opened a window ofopportunity forIran tobe accepted tothe WTO.
