German Chancellor to pay upcoming visit to Iran

TEHRAN, Jan. 18 (MNA) Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce Mohsen Jalalpur announced on Monday that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay a visit to Iran in the near future.

In a meeting with Parliamentary State Secretary at German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy Brigitte Zypries, Mohsen Jalalpur said Iran and Germany has a long history of cooperation in various fields and during post-sanctions era, they can enhance relations, including in environmental and pharmaceutical fields.

He called for efforts to hold German Economic Day in Iran and vice versa, adding that the two countries may take advantage of the opportunities available during the new era following the removal of illegal sanctions against Iran.

Announcing that 40 German investors are now in Iran, Brigitte Zypries said Iran must enter the non-oil and clean energy fields of investment.

The visit of 40 German investors to Iran, only one day after the implementation of JCPOA, is a positive step, while Iran has been re-connected to the global economy and can flourish its economy, she underlined.

Zypries noted that Iran has great potential to become more reliable on renewable and sustainable energies, especially in a condition where the role of oil in the economy of a country is fading.
