Iran-Germany consider ways to expand joint scientific cooperation

Tehran, Jan 12, IRNA Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Farhadi and former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and accompanying delegation discussed ways to expand joint scientific and technology cooperation here on Tuesday.


Referring to mutual interests of Iran and Germany for scientific issues, Farhadi said that joint scientific and technology cooperation between Iranian and Germany researchers and research centers have a long back history and now we should try to prepare grounds for presence of scientists of both countries in universities and research centers.

He added that by signing a Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) by German sides and by holding meeting of Strategic Committee , ways for joint cooperation between the two countries had been considered.

Farhadi said that in our view Germany is one of the countries for having joint scientific and research cooperation and we also welcome cooperation in other fields of transferring technology and sharing experiences.

Gerhard Schroeder welcomes expansion of mutual cooperation in research and scientific issues and said that Europe in past centuries took advantages of Iran's medical sciences and said that there are plenty of grounds for joint cooperation between higher education centers of both countries, which could be done within the framework of joint works in the universities and knowledge-based companies, for instance, in the sector of health and sanitation, accredited German companies may produce the best medical and treatment equipment in cooperation with Iranian side.

He added that generally the German government is interested to expand and strengthen joint scientific and technology cooperation between the two countries.
