Islamabad, Jan 9, IRNA -- After separate meetings with Iran and Saudi ambassadors in Islamabad on Friday, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief said, 'if Pakistan becomes part of Saudi led 34-nation coalition, it will become difficult to play any role as a mediator.'


Imran Khan met Iranian Ambassador Mahdi Honardoost and Saudi Ambassador Abdullah Zahrani on Friday afternoon and then attended a press conference to give his suggestions to Pakistan government regarding recent tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

He also expressed concerns over Pakistan joining 34-nation Saudi-led coalition.
During the meetings with Ambassadors, Imran Khan stressed the need for negotiations between Saudi Arabia and Iran to end tensions in a peaceful manner.
While addressing the press conference, he feared that escalation of tension between the two Muslim countries would have a negative impact on Pakistan.

Imran Khan said both the ambassadors informed him about their viewpoints about the prevailing standoff.

While briefing the media, referring to relations with the countries, the PTI chief said one was Pakistan�s important neighbor and the other is a close friend.

�We are in opposition, but we have made our position clear. The government of Pakistan should make its position clear on the issue� he added

Imran Khan urged the government to act as a mediator in the conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia as rising tensions would impact the entire Muslim Ummah.

He also asked the government to take Iran into confidence about its stance on recent crisis.
