Zarif: Iran not seeking tension in region

Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed that Iran was not after creating tension in the region.

In a joint press conference with his visiting Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Jaafari here on Wednesday, he said interaction with neighboring countries was Iran’s principled policy.

However, he regretted, Saudi Arabia was moving in the opposite direction of this policy.

He said Iran tried to establish interaction and fraternity in the past 2.5 years while Saudi Arabia moved in the opposite direction.

Al-Jaafari arrived in Tehran today.

He is also to meet President Hassan Rouhani and exchange views with him on bilateral ties, regional and international developments.
