Solana: Sheikh Nimr's execution was provocative

Madrid, Jan 6, IRNA- Former EU Foreign Policy Chief and NATO Secretary General, Javier Solana reiterated that Saudi execution of Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr was a provocative action.

In an interview with Radio Madrid, SER, Solana said on Tuesday that the tention between Iran and Saudi Arabia has already started.

With regards to execution of Sheikh Nimr, tention is to continue, Solana said.

Referring to Syria crisis, he said it's the worst time for tention growth in the region since the main need of the region is constructive interaction.

He added that Saudi Arabia is engulfed in crises, and they have to take an action regarding various problems that may arise by oil price fall and high budget deficit.
