Iran is committed to Vienna, New York talks on Syria

Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA - Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said on Wednesday that break-up of ties with Saudi Arabia will leave no impacts on Syria talks held in Vienna and New York and Iran is committed to the Syrian peace process.

He made the remarks in the trilateral meeting between Iran, Switzerland and Syria on finding a suitable way to dispatch humanitarian aid to people in Syria.

'I would like to express my views on the consequences of the irrational and unwise decision made by Saudi government breaking ties with Tehran', he said.

He said that Tehran is committed to the peace talks on Syria and will spare no efforts to go ahead with negotiations with UN officials and the Syrian government and hopes that the Saudi government will learn required lesson from history.

In the meeting, he also congratulated on outcome of the New Year peace talks on Syria and expressed the hope that the year 2016 to be very promising.

In the trilateral talks, all sides studied avenues to send relief aid to Syria, Intra-Syrian talks to help resolve the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the regional issues.
