Riyadh prime suspect of raising terrorism: Dy FM

Tehran, Jan 2, IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said on Saturday that Riyah is the prime suspect of raising terrorism and it cannot acquit itself from its own wrong policies including execution of Shia leader Sheikh al-Nimr.


He said that Sheikh al-Nimr was a religious leader of the Shia Community of the Saudi Arabia and the death verdict against a religious leader is gross violation of the internationally-recognized norms and the Customary International Law.
Amir-Abdollahian summoned Saudi Arabia charge d'affaires, expressing Iran's strong protest against the inhumane and irresponsible act and warning about its repercussions.
Saudi government has not yet fulfilled its International Responsibility about the deaths at Hajj stampede which killed thousands in Mina that unfortunately it executed the religious leader and committed sacrilegious acts against the Shia Muslim community, he said.
The act by the Saudi kingdom injured sentiments of the Muslim World, the official said.
Criticizing Saudi Arabia for violation of human rights and trampling on rights of of the Shia community and minorities, Amir-Abdollahian said that Sheikh Nimr is an outstanding scholar who belongs to the entire Islamic world not a country alone.
None of the accusations leveled against the Shia cleric in a statement by Saudi Interior Ministry is true, he said.
Saudi Charge d'affaires said that he will convey Iran's protest to his government.
