Seddiqi advises electing MPs fully alertly, piously

Tehran, Jan 1, IRNA Provisional Friday Prayers Imam of Tehran Hojjatoleslam Kazzem Seddiqi referring to two major elections ahead in months said here on Friday that full alertness and piety are needed for voting in February Parliamentary and Leadership Experts Assembly elections.

'We need to elect representatives in those two elections to be considerate, to safeguard the martyr's blood, to be farsighted, to safeguard the national security, to be the best possible and fittest for the purpose, and not to put Iran's national security at stake,' he said.

Hojjatoleslam Seddiqi said that although being approved by the Guardians Council of the Constitution is necessary for the candidates but it does not suffice as being farsighted and piety, too, are needed.

He asked the people to study the background records of the candidates for the Parliament and the Leadership Experts Assembly before voting for them.

Seddiqi meanwhile criticized the Western culture, which he dubbed as modern ignorance that has murdered the ethical values, justice, and sound conscience of the human beings.

'The modern world is devoid of humanity as there is no sign of it in the West,' he said.

Seddiqi also criticized the Nigerian Government for arresting the grand Shi'a clergy Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaki, whom he said has dedicated six of his children to the sacred cause of his religion, arguing: these sacred shed bloods revive Islam.
