Iranian MPs to visit nuclear facilities in coming days

TEHRAN (Tasnim) A number of Iranian lawmakers are slated to visit the countrys nuclear facilities in Arak and Fordo next week, a member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said.

Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Ebrahim Aqamohammadi said several members of the commission plan to tour the countrys Arak heavy-water reactor and the Fordo nuclear facility on Monday.

The visits to the nuclear facilities by the members of the parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission are in line with (efforts to) monitor the proper implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he added.

The Iranian lawmaker emphasized that a report on the visits to the nuclear facilities in Natanz, Arak and Fordo will be later submitted to the presiding board of the commission, adding that part of the document maybe later read out during an open session of the parliament.

Back on November 13, Nozar Shafiee, the rapporteur of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said the commission has a duty to monitor the implementation of the recent nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers- the JCPOA- and is required to submit a report on the issue to the presiding board of the parliament every six months.

Therefore, he added, the commission has taken some measures to set up a committee named "The Monitoring Committee to keep an eye on the procedures of the JCPOA implementation.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) finalized the comprehensive nuclear deal on July 14.
