Commander: Basij fully ready to confront enemies' possible threats

TEHRAN (FNA)- Lieutenant Commander of Basij (Volunteer) Forces Brigadier General Ali Fazli underlined his forces' deterrent power, and said the enemies dont dare to threaten the country.

"Today, as always, the Basij Forces, specially 2,350 battalions of martial arts experts, are ready to confront the enemies in all arenas," Brigadier General Fazli said, addressing a conference in Tehran on Wednesday.

The lieutenant commander of Basij pointed to the different plots hatched against the Islamic Republic of Iran after the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and said, "The presence of Basij and people against the enemies in all these incidents resulted in the formation of operations against the enemy."

His remarks came as Iranian Basiji Forces across Iran have held massive military drills to practice fighting against security threats.

In relevant remarks in early September, a senior advisor to Supreme Leader's representative in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Asoudi said that Basij's drills are a manifestation of its power and massive presence in all fields.

He added that Basij is the eagle eye of the Islamic Revolution and it monitors all moves of the internal and foreign enemies to prevent the implementation of their plots.

In late November, Basij Force staged two-day massive exercises codenamed 'Towards Beit al-Moqaddas' in the Central province of Qom.

A sum of 120 Basij battalions from nine provinces took part in the military maneuvers held near Qom city on November 19-20.

The Towards Beit al-Moqaddas drills started three years ago and have been conducted in 28 provinces of the country so far.

In late October, Basij force held wargames in Kurdistan province, Western Iran, to show its defensive preparedness against any possible threat.

"20,000 Basij forces who have been organized within the framework of different battalions will participate in 'Towards Beit al-Moqaddas' wargames to exercise preparedness to fight against possible threats in the region," Commander of the IRGC's Beit al-Moqaddas Corps in Kurdistan Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Rajabi told reporters in Sanandaj city.

Also in mid-October, the Basij Force staged two-day 'Towards Beit al-Moqaddas' in Hamedan province, Western Iran.

"Three 'Beit al Moqaddas' battalions took part in the wargames conducted in Hamedan province on Thursday and Friday," Commander of Hamedan IRGC Hassan Barzegar told reporters on October 16.

He reiterated the high level of preparedness of 'Beit al Moqaddas' battalions to confront the enemies.

Barzegar mentioned that ambush and counter-attack tactics as well as sensitive centers protection and defense operations will be exercised in the drills.

In Early September, Basij force started two days of wargames in Northeastern Iran to show its defensive preparedness against any possible threat.

"We are trying to stage in the best possible way these 'towards Beit al-Moqaddas' drills codenamed Ya Rasoulallah that started in Ardebil province today," Commander of Brigade 37 of Hazrat Abbas (AS) of Ardebil province Farhang Mostae'ed said.

He announced that during the wargames, the Basij forces' combat and defensive preparedness as well as their relief and rescue skills would be tested.
