Leader: Muslims must focus on own capacities, not to follow West

Tehran, Dec 29, IRNA - The Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that for planning the new Islamic civilization, Muslims should not follow the West, instead they should rely on their own capacities and go forward in the right path.

The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with the Muslim scholars, thinkers and political figures participants of the 29th International Islamic Unity Conference as well as the Tehran-based diplomatic corps.

The Supreme Leader said that US officials pretend to have better relations with Sunni Muslims and they are in disagreement with the Shia Muslims, but, it is lie and they are hostile with Islam in its entirety.

The Supreme Leader advised Islamic religious scholars and individuals to initiate Jihadist effort to introduce new Islamic civilization, saying that they should pave the way for all the human being to opt for the right path of Islam.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the West cultural invasion and occupation of countries and said 'on the contrary to western way for spreading its civilization, introducing the new Islamic civilization should not go in parallel with occupation of lands or imposing culture to other nations by force.'

The Supreme Leader made clear that the West used Islamic World knowledge and philosophy to lay the foundation of its civilization.

The Leader said despite its nice appearances and conveniences, the western civilization did not bring prosperity and justice for the human being and it suffers from the inside contradiction.

Westerners have themselves confessed that the western civilization has become corrupt both morally and spiritually, the Leader noted.

Referring to the high geographical position, rich natural resources and talent human resources of Islamic World, Ayatollah Khamenei said that by using Islamic teachings, Muslim Ummah can make new innovations in all fields of science, technology, politics and social life.

Iran was backward in all fields including science, technology and politics and in the meantime it was also isolated politically and dependent on others before the 1979 Islamic Revolution but today it has made good progress in all fields, the Leader said.

Calling Iran's progress as inspiring for other Muslim nations, the Leader added that any country which wants to reach Iran's position should pay the cost of cutting the hands of superpowers as precondition to progress.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the use of word 'crusade' for the war against terrorism by former US President George Bush after the 11th September attacks adding that these remarks showed the arrogant powers suppose themselves in war with Muslims.

The Supreme Leader referred to the criminal acts of extremist groups and said that Daesh and similar terrorist groups have been created by US and its allies enjoying their financial and political support.

The remarks by US officials about friendship with Sunni Muslims and opposition to Shia Muslims are lies and their crimes against humanity in Gaza and the West Bank who are Sunni Muslims are good examples, the Leader said.

He noted that US officials are against Islam and Islamic movements and for such reason they tried to control the ongoing Islamic Awakening in the region and to some extent they succeeded in certain states.

Criticizing the Islamic World silence towards pressure on Muslims in Bahrain as well as bombardment of Yemen and the humanitarian crises in Iraq and Syria, Ayatollah Khamenei asked why the Islamic states should keep silent towards such measures.

The Supreme Leader criticized crackdown on Muslims in Nigeria and in particular the country's religious leader Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaki.

'Today, enemies pursue civil wars between Muslims and unfortunately, to some extent, they have been successful in realization of this goal and have ruined the Islamic countries including Syria, Yemen and Libya,' the Leader said.

'Western civilization has started to show its paradoxical nature and it is the turn of Islam to re-emerge,' Ayatollah Khamenei added.

''I am disappointed with the Islamic World politicians, but I am hopeful about the Muslim religious scholars and intellectuals for whom the West has not become a Mecca,' he noted.

The 17th day of the month of Rabi al-Awwal on the lunar Hijri calendar is believed by the Shia Muslims to mark the birth anniversaries of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), while Sunni Muslims regard the 12th day of the month as the birthday of the great prophet.

The interval between the two dates is celebrated every year as the Islamic Unity Week.
