Muslims around the world respond brilliantly to ISIS leader's call to arms

Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi supposedly released a message on Boxing Day, claiming how well the so-called caliphate is doing despite the international coalition against it.

The 24-minute recording, his first since May, threatened the people of Israel, taunted the US for not putting troops on the ground and called on Muslims around the world to join his band of terrorists in Iraq and Syria.

However, in a reminder that the overwhelming majority of people follow Islam peacefully and detest the message that Isis spreads, hundreds of Muslims have mocked Baghdadi's message on social media:

When Emirati activist Iyad el-Baghdadi (no relation) translated the message, dozens of people sent back jokey replies:

Sorry . This Muslim is just waking up. Needs coffee. Also, it's Christmas weekend family time. Run along now. https://twitter.com/iyad_elbaghdadi/status/680776223606333440

Many took the chance to turn the Isis leader's words against himself:

Awkward:

HA Hellyer ?. ???@hahellyer

Describing jihad as 'fard al'ayn' means Baghdadi is declaring that every individual Muslim is obliged to fight; similar to prayer & charity.

HA Hellyer ?. ???@hahellyer

How annoyed Baghdadi must be, when it is clear that so few Muslims regard his call for any kind of jihad, personal or communal, to be valid.
