The United States and its allies seek to �reconfigure� the entire Middle East through the military campaign against the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group, an American political analyst says.

�The United States is not serious whatsoever in dealing with this problem of whatever we want to call it, Daesh, ISIL or ISIS,� Mark Glenn told Press TV on Sunday.

�All of the noise that is made towards defeating terrorism particularly in Syria and Iraq is just theatrics on the part of Washington,� he added.

�The United States is involved in playing a game here.� [The war on ISIL] is the equivalent of putting lipstick on a pig, an expression that is meant to convey the idea that no matter how much makeup you put on a pig, still it is going to be a pig,� Glenn said.

Glenn said that since the occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, the US has been working �in collusion with Israel and with other western powers� to reconfigure the Middle East.�

The US Defense Department has said it will not share intelligence on Daesh terrorists in Syria unless Moscow changes its stance on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The US and Russia have opposite views regarding the fate of President Assad. Washington insists Assad does not have a role in Syria�s future, whereas Moscow believes only the Syrian people must decide the future of their country.

Ever since Russia launched an air campaign against Daesh in Syria nearly three months ago, Moscow has been offering to share intelligence with the US-led coalition fighting against ISIL, urging Washington to do the same.

�We are not going to cooperate with Russia on Syria until they change their strategy of supporting Assad and instead focus on ISIL,� Pentagon spokesperson Lt. Col. Michelle Baldanza told the Sputnik news agency on Friday.

Glenn said, �If Washington were truly concerned about the problem of terrorism, in the first case Washington would stop supporting and funding and training these terrorists, number one. Number two, it would be willing to share intelligence on these terrorists with the Russians who have been very successful in dealing with this. And number 3, there would be absolutely no talk whatsoever, about who was going to be running in Syria, before, during or after this problem has been dealt with.�

The military intervention in the Middle East, Glenn stressed, is aimed at �getting rid of governments that the United States and more importantly Israel find problematic.�

Syria has been grappling with a deadly crisis since 2011, which has claimed the lives of more than 250,000 people.
