Tehran, Dec 21, IRNA � Iran is the 'first regional country' that is run by people's votes, President Hassan Rouhani said here Monday.


'Iran is the country of law,' Rouhani said after registering as a candidate in the forthcoming Assembly of Experts elections.

The President told reporters that Iran is the first country in the region that could witness Islamic Revolution while enjoying an Islamic system and religious democracy.

Referring to presence of the Iranian ladies in registration for the upcoming Majlis and Assembly of Expert elections, Rouhani said Iran is among the most modern nations around the world regarding that issue.

The Parliament and Assembly of Experts elections will be simultaneously held on February 26, 2016 across the country.
