Tehran, Dec 19, IRNA –The official registration of candidates for the ninth Majlis elections started across the country as well as Iran’s embassies and consular offices abroad on Saturday.
Parliament hopefuls for the forthcoming elections have until December 25, 2015 to register.
The deadline will not be extended, an IRNA report said.
The Parliament and Assembly of Experts elections will be simultaneously held on February 26, 2016 across the country.
According to Iran’s electorate laws, potential candidates must be Muslim, Iranian in nationality, of sound body and mind, between 30 to 75 years in age, have no criminal record, uphold the values of the Islamic Republic, abide by the Iranian Constitution, and hold a master’s degree.
The Guardian Council, which is tasked with supervising the election, will then vet the candidates.
