Head of AEOI among Nature's ten people for 2015

Tehran, Dec 18, IRNA - Ali-Akbar Salehi, nuclear engineer and head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, is among Nature's ten people of 2015.


The world-renowned journal, Nature, on Thursday released its annual list of ten people who mattered in science in 2015, which includes Iranian nuclear engineer and head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.

The journal described Salehi as one who helped Iran forge a historic agreement with world powers concerning his country's nuclear activities.

Chinese biologist Junjiu Huang as well as Chinese-born chemical engineer Zhenan Bao, another female on the list is Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) are also on journal's list.

The editors also chose to include Alan Stern, who led NASA's New Horizons mission, biologists Christina Smolke and David Reich, Russian physicist Mikhail Eremets, Brian Nose as well as Solar physicist Joan Schmelz .
