First Iranian woman seeks seat in Assembly of Experts

Tehran, Dec 17, IRNA – The first Iranian woman registered as a candidate in the country’s forthcoming Assembly of Experts elections here on Thursday.

Esmat Savadi holds a doctorate in jurisprudence and law.

The official registration of candidates for the fifth Assembly of Experts elections started nationwide on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by Interior Minister Abdulreza Rahmani Fazli and Head of the country’s Elections Headquarters Mohammad Hossein Moqimi.

Potential candidates can register for the elections from December 17 to 23.

The Parliament and Assembly of Experts elections will be simultaneously held on February 26, 2016 across the country.
