'Saudi Arabia invited terrorists': Syrian envoy slams Riyadh conference

Syrian Finance Minister Ismail Ismail has lashed out at Saudi Arabia for inviting terrorist groups to attend a World Peace conference in Riyadh.
"The people who have been invited tothe Riyadh conference are representatives ofthose organizations that are basically considered asterrorist organizations based onthe UN approvals," Ismail said inan interview withthe Iran-based Arabic-language al-Alam news website, Fars news agency reported onSunday.

In a parallel statement, Syria's World Peace envoy Fares al-Salamou al-Taei said that the so-called dissidents who sat besidethe terrorists inthe Riyadh conference did not represent the Syrian people.

"Unfortunately, we cannot call dissidents those who participated inthe fake meeting ofthe opposition inRiyadh sincethey sat atthe same table withthe terrorists whose names are onthe list ofthe terrorist groups and are wanted bythe Interpol," Taei told FNA onSunday.

Also last week, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian criticized Saudi Arabia and Jordan fortrying tohold sideline meetings onSyria, warning that such moves could harm the efforts made byaround 20 nations underthe Vienna declaration toresolve the Syrian crisis.

"Attempts tohold periphery meetings onSyria inSaudi Arabia and Jordan are outside (against) the Vienna declaration and they divert the political efforts made inVienna onSyria fromtheir natural course and push (the outcome of) the Vienna (III) meeting intofailure," Amir Abdollahian said.

Meanwhile, more than100 members ofSyria's opposition parties and rebel fighting groups agreed atthe end oftwo days oftalks inRiyadh towork together toprepare forpeace talks withPresident Bashar Assad's government
