Veep: Iran considers neighbors' security as its own security

Ashkhabad, Dec 12, IRNA First Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri emphasizing Iran's will to expand ties with Turkmenistan said that here on Saturday our country attaches great importance to its neighbors' security to an extent that we consider their security as our own.

Jahangiri who is in Ashkhabad to participate in a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Declaration of Neutrality status supported the country's peace-making decision, arguing that this way Turkmenistan's borders with all its neighbors, including Iran, are turned into borders of friendship and brotherhood, peace and security.
He said that Iran was among the first countries that supported that decision and evaluates it as a positive move.
'The two countries' relations can grow comprehensively relying on our shared historical and cultural commonalties for good and that important objective is being pursued in line with the two countries' presidents,' he added.
Turkmenistan celebrates 20th anniversary of Permanent Neutrality in the presence of delegates from around 70 countries, including Iran, here today (on Saturday).
The Iranian Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri, heading a high ranking delegation, is attending the second anniversary of Turkmenistan neutrality.
The year 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the recognition by the international community of the legal status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan in accordance with a respective United Nations (UN) General Assembly resolution.
For the first time in the history of the UNGA the adoption of the Special Resolution on 12 December 1995, entitled 'On the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan' became a recognition of the peaceful foreign policy of this country and an approval of the authoritative role of Turkmenistan as a state that can make a worthy contribution to the peaceful development of international relations and ensuring universal security and steady progress.
