Minister voices Iran's readiness to broaden cooperation with ISESCO

Tehran, Dec 10, IRNA - Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati said on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to broaden cooperation with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) to help promote cultural relations as well as unity among world Muslims.

Jannati made the remarks in a meeting with ISESCO Representative Muhammed Al-Ghumari in Tehran on Wednesday afternoon.

In his remarks, the minister pointed to the high number of Iranian intellectuals and Islamic figures who are well known to the international community.

ISESCO plays a very remarkable role in broadening cultural relations among Islamic states, Jannati said.

He further called for bolstering of relations and cooperation between the Iranian ministry of culture and Islamic guidance and ISESCO.

In the meeting, the ISESCO representative conveyed the message sent by ISESCO director general to Jannati and said the Islamic Republic of Iran and ISESCO have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to revive significant measures leading to promotion of relations and cooperation between the two sides.

Since the holy city of Mahad has been designated for capital of the world Muslim in 2017, ISESCO is ready to make required cooperation and arrangement to this end, he said.

Mashad is a historical city with huge ample of untapped opportunities which should be taken into account in broadening cooperation with ISESECO as well as the world Muslim, he said.
