Iran, Finland call for closer coop. on ICT
TEHRAN, Dec. 09 (MNA) Minister of communications Mahmoud Vaezi said Tue. that Iran and Finland have a keen interest to boost cooperation in the field of ICT.


Minister of Communications and Information Technology MahmoudVaezi met with visting Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland Lenita Toivakka on Tuesday, saying the two countries would expand cooperation in the field of research,development and applications.

Iran-Finland ties have always been firm and effective in various fields of politics, culture, science and economy and we intend to further develop mutual cooperation in the field of Information and Communications Technology, as well, Vaezi said.

Vaezi referred to the prominent Finnish companies with long-standing cooperation with Iran, adding Nokia is a well-known company that has been cooperating with Iran for a long time. Today, with joint cooperation between Nokia and Frances Alcatel-Lucent telecommunications equipmentcompany,we will be able to further improve Irans activities in the ICT sector.

Vaezi went on to add that his ministry has plannedmany projects in the field of ICT in whichprominent Finnish companies can participate; in addition to attracting investments, we must also welcome various types of technology into the country and continue our bilateral cooperation with Finland in research and development areas, he said.

The Finnish minister, for her part, expressed hope that Iran-Finland cooperation would enter a new phase after this visit, and the implementation of Irans nuclear accord would provide ample opportunities for the development of ties between the two countries, particularly in the field of modern and clean technologies.

Accompanying a delegation of 70 representatives of Finnish companies mostly active in the ICT sector, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland Lenita Toivakka participated in the Iran-Finland Business Seminar held here on September 8.
