Iran intends to buy Russia's T-90 tanks

Brig. Gen. Ahmad Reza Pourdastan, the commander of Iran's Army Ground Force, said that Iran has plans to buy Russia-developed T-90 tanks and Iranian military experts would be sent to Russia to sign the contracts with Moscow.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) Iran has plans topurchase Russia-developed T-90 tanks, the commander ofIran's Army Ground Force said Tuesday.

"Our ties withRussia inthe field ofequipment supply are established, and we have onour agenda the purchase ofT-90 tanks," Brig. Gen. Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said, asquoted bythe Iranian Tasnim News Agency.

Pourdastan added that Iranian military experts would be sent toRussia tosign the contracts withMoscow.

Russia and Iran work together indifferent spheres, including trade, energy, military and technical cooperation. On November 25, Russian presidential aide onmilitary-technical cooperation Vladimir Kozhin said that Iran was interested inthe entire range ofRussian arms.

Military cooperation withTehran became possible again afterIran reached an agreement onits nuclear program withthe P5+1 group ofinternational mediators onJuly 14. Iran agreed toensure the peaceful nature ofits nuclear program inexchange foreasing ofthe sanctions imposed againstthe country.
