Najafi: IAEA Board of Governors to close Iran's previous dossiers

Vienna, Dec 8, IRNA - Irans permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Reza Najafi said on Tuesday that the IAEA Board of Governors is to close Iran's previous nuclear dossiers.

Speaking to reporters, he said closure of Iran's nuclear dossiers is to be mentioned in three clauses of the draft resolution prepared by G5+1 which is to be presented to the IAEA Board of Governor.

The resolution is to put an end to Iran's former dossiers in the past as well as the present one and resolution 2231 is to replace previous resolutions issued by the UN Security Council on the day of implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

G5+1 members states based on clause 14 of (JCPOA) have drafted a resolution for closure of the PMD in which clauses 9,11, and 13 play key parts to this end, Najafi said.

According to clause 9 of the draft resolution prepared by G5+1, all activities pertaining to Iran's nuclear program defined in the Road Map have been carried out in due time covering Iran's past and present nuclear activities in line with PMD, he said.

The IAEA Board of Governors based on clause 11 is to terminate all 12 previous resolutions including two resolutions on MPD dated November 2011 and December 2012, he said.

Closure of IAEA Board of Governor's resolutions on PMD in which the IAEA director general had called for a report on the status of PMD (clause 6 Resolution dated September 2012) means that the IAEA director general has no obligation on PMD, Najafi said.

From this date on and based on clause 4 of the resolution, the IAEA director general can only give reports on procedures of implementing the JCPOA and the probable occurrence of special problems to this end, he said.

It is expected that the resolution would be approved onTuesday December 15, Najafi said.
