Shamkhani: IAEA Board of Governors obliged to close Iran file

Tehran, Dec 7, IRNA - Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Monday that IAEA Board of Governors has no reason to refuse closure of Iranian file about possible military dimension.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Lebanon Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khali.

Shamkhani said that after the release of recent IAEA report, IAEA board of governors has no legal and technical reason to refuse closure of the PMD case.

He said that parts of latest report of IAEA Director-General Yukiya Amano are unacceptable.

Shamkhani acknowledged in the meantime that the report has explicitly dropped the past claims against Iran's nuclear program.

He said that IAEA distanced itself from the past political approach acknowledging non-diversion of Iranian nuclear program from the civilian and peaceful path.

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Wednesday issued his report on the past activities of Iran's peaceful nuclear program also called PMD.

Yukiya Amano's report was circulated among member states of the agency's Board of Governors who are scheduled to vote on closing the PMD file in a meeting on December 15.
