TEHRAN (FNA)- Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri underlined that the country has the upper hand in intelligence over the terrorist groups in the region.
“Given Iran’s capabilities gained in the past few years, the terrorists don’t dare to even take a dirty look at the country,” Jazzayeri said on Thursday.
“Fortunately, we have good intelligence superiority over all terrorist groups in the region,” he added.
In relevant remarks in March, Commander of the Iranian Border Guards Brigadier General Qassem Rezayee reiterated Tehran’s tight control over the country’s bordering areas.
Visiting a border point in the Western province of Kermanshah, the commander said proper security had been established along the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern border lines, including the sea borders.
Also in October, former Police Chief Brigadier General Esmayeel Ahmadi Moqaddam vowed to overcome deficiencies in controlling the country’s Southeastern borders, where a spat of terrorist attacks had been launched on Iran by terrorist groups who use neighboring Pakistan as their springboard.
“Our borders should receive more attention as the threats around us are serious,” Ahmadi Moqaddam told reporters in Tehran at the time.
He criticized certain neighboring states for their lax border control, and said, “Terrorist groups rather enjoy excessive freedom of action and use Pakistan’s soil to hit a blow at Iran.”
