Syrian troops making more advances against Takfiris

The Syrian forces have made new advances against foreign-backed Takfiri terrorist groups across the war-stricken country, deliveringstinging blows to them.

The government troops recapturedareas from terrorists in Harasta, located in the Damascus countryside, on Wednesday, Syria's official news agency SANA reported, adding that a number of Takfiris were killed in the operation and their hideouts were seized.

Moreover, a 250-meter-long tunnel full of ammunition and boobytraps was discovered by the Syrian forces around the district. The secret tunnel, according to SANA, was used for storing and transferring ammunition.

The Syrian air force also carried out a number of sorties in the northwestern province of Aleppo and in the western province of Hama, inflicting heavy losses on terrorists.

Meanwhile, army units, in cooperation with popular defense groups, regained control over several areas in the central province ofHoms. The Syrian air force also targeted a number of Daesh positionsacross the province, killing a number of the Takfiris and destroying several of their vehicles and hideouts.

The Syrian conflict, which started in March 2011, has claimed the lives of more than 250,000 people and left over one million injured, according to the UN.

The world body says 12.2 million people, including more than 5.6 million children, remain in need of humanitarian assistance. The foreign-sponsored militancy has also internally displaced 7.6 million people.
