Larijani highlights need for Iran-Turkey cooperation to restore regional security

Tehran, Nov 24, IRNA Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani stressed the need for further cooperation between Iran and Turkey to restore peace and security to the region.

In a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Esmaeil Kahraman on Monday, he said Iran and Turkey should cooperate and exchange views on the ways of playing a decisive role in restoring regional security.

He felicitated Kahraman on his election as the speaker of the Turkish parliament and pointed to the growing trend of good and friendly bilateral ties in past years in such areas as politics, economy, parliament as well as regional issues.

Larijani also invited his counterpart to pay an official visit to Iran.

The Turkish official referred to Iran as a great country with a glorious civilization which enjoys a decisive position in the region.

Referring to the many religious and cultural points the two countries share, he said Tehran and Ankara, as two friendly Muslim neighbors, could help solve problems both in the region and across the Islamic world.
