Tehran, Nov 22, IRNA � Iran has no plan to send warships to the Syrian port of Tartus, Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Sunday.

Speaking in a press conference, he said in response to a question whether the missile attack from the Caspian Sea to Daesh targets in Syria has been carried by the Iranian or the Russian Navy, the commander said that Iran has not launched missile toward Syria.

The Navy commander said that Iran aims to stage naval drill dubbed as 'Velayat 94' in winter this year.

The 37th Fleet of the Iranian Navy will head to the Gulf of Aden on December 1 in line with the policy to safeguard maritime security, the commander added.

In recent years, Iran�s Navy has been increasing its presence in international waters to protect safety of the high seas for merchant ships and tankers.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly asserted that its overseas naval presence is meant to convey a message of peace and friendship to the other countries. Iranian officials and commanders have also underlined on various occasions that all military exercises and that the Islamic Republic of Iran boosts military preparedness and upgrades defense hardware and software for deterrence to threat of aggression.

Velayat war games are the annual exercises conducted by the Iranian Army�s naval forces each year.

Surface-to-surface defense system at sea, submarines, aviation service and airborne units participate in the drills.
